Jim Whalen serves as Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer at BXP (formerly Boston Properties) where he is responsible for the company’s innovation initiatives, strategic direction and implementation of its technology services and solutions. Over the 25 years at BXP, Jim has led the transition of BXP’s technology function to a technology-as-a-service organization and positions BXP as the industry leader in technical innovation within commercial real estate.

Jim is a leading industry voice and trusted advisor among his peers in informing and influencing investments and trends. Jim is a consummate community builder for impact across the broader commercial real estate technology community and IT community in Boston and is a leading advocate and sponsor of IT career pathways in Boston.

Prior to joining BXP in March 1998, he served as Vice President, Information Systems of Beacon Properties. He is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and a recipient of the New York City Urban Fellowship. Jim is a trustee and the former President of the Boston Chapter of the Society for Information Management (SIM) and currently serves on the Real Estate Cyber Consortium, Realcomm Advisory Council, RE-ISAC Cybersecurity Working Group, TechHire Boston and Boston Private Industry Council.
